Gender and the return migration process: Gulf returnees in Ghana

Abstract Labour migration in the context of South-South is generally conceived as a multidimensional process that comprises three distinct subprocesses: emigration, immigration, and return migration. There growing consensus least understood these subprocesses. In similar vein, gendered analysis has become more integral to scholarship today; yet one area where gender matters but not been thoroughly studied process. This paper explores how shapes experiences by reflecting on four transnational sites such migrants’ socio-demographic features, working living conditions Gulf, remittance control use, finally reintegration.
